St. John's UCC Preschool Newsletter
(by Denise Haase, from the May 2008 newsletter)
April showers have brought great days to our preschool. We were able to go outside and play on the playground. The children are waiting for our classroom caterpillars to turn into butterflies. The caterpillars are in the chrysalis stage now and hanging from the lid of the jar. Our 4-year-old butterflies have all been to kindergarten round-up with the exception of one who will be returning to preschool due to age. The children are ready to take flight to kindergarten.
April started off witih the letter S, and we have been talking about Spring and the changes in the season. We also had a special guest, Dr. Swank. He brought stethoscopes and a Doppler to hear the children's hearts. Safety Cindy also came and talked to us about germs. Cindy is with the Germ Buster Program at Good Samaritan Hospital. This month we plan to take a field trip to Dumes and the Recycling Center. The recycling bins are overflowing with the materials the kids are bringing in.
I am happy to report all children are able to zip or button their jackets, and several are able to tie -- yah!!
I plan on ending the month with letters X and Z. The children will measure a yard of yarn to make crafts and learn all about zoo animals.
